Pakistan’s 30-year-old Babar Azam made a proper comeback to international cricket against Australia in the ongoing Pak vs Aus first ODI match at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday, November 4.

Babar Azam contributed to his side’s cause by scoring 37 runs off 44 balls with the help of 4 fours before being dismissed by Adam Zampa.

Aus vs Pak : One Day Update

Pakistan came to bat first and the team’s opener Sam Ayub scored just 1 run on his one-day debut before falling to Mitchell Starc. Pakistan lost their next batsman Abdullah Shafique a few balls later but Babar Azam stayed on the field and played some great shots for his team.

Babar Azam was satisfied with only singles on the initial balls of the match, but later he hit his first boundary with a brilliant on-drive on Pat Cummins’ ball. In the same over, Babar Azam hit another boundary on the off side.

When Mitchell Starc was bowling the 11th over of the match, Babar Azam hit a four across the mid-wicket boundary on the last ball of that over, and when Sean Abbott was bowling the 16th over of the match, Babar Azam hit a brilliant cut-shot on the last ball of that over and hit the fourth boundary of his innings over third man.

When Zampa was bowling the 18th over of the match, he showed Babar Azam the way to the pavilion. Zampa’s ball ripped through Babar’s defense and uprooted the wicket. Babar Azam tried to go on the backfoot on that ball and play a flick shot but that ball of Zampa was not very short and it beat Babar Azam from all sides and hit the wicket directly and Babar Azam’s innings ended there. He tried to play a flick shot on that ball but got beaten and got out.

Babar Azam also shared a partnership of 39 runs with Pakistan’s white ball team captain Mohammad Rizwan. After Babar Azam got out, Pakistan’s team also lost their third wicket in 17.4 overs. During that time Pakistan had scored only 63 runs.

Babar Azam lost his place in the national Test team when Pakistan faced England in 3 matches in the ODI series. Babar Azam will be fully expected to score a big score in the last 2 ODIs to be held in Adelaide and Perth.
